Swarm armour in action

A large red dragon wearing dark green armour walked down the deserted street of a previous overcrowded city, his eyes glowed through the visor and a pair of Gatling guns sat on his back where a dragons wings should be.
He stomped down the street and pushed an abandoned car aside like it was nothing, his armoured feet made a crunching sound as he walked.

"You copy there Shark?" asked a deep voice over the radio on his shoulder strap, the dragon stopped dead in his tracks and looked around before speaking.

"I hear you loud and clear Lightning" said Shark in a young voice, Shark was in his early 20's, a very smart and well trained Ranger, he had been specially chosen to pilot a new breed of heavy assault armour.

"Good, switching to live image feed" said Lightning, Shark tapped a button on the side of his helmet and a small camera above his visor turned on.

"Wow, its a ghost town down there, see any signs of the bio weapon?" asked Lightning, Shark shook his head and continued to walk, looking into shops and cars as he passed them.

"And so signs of any survivors either" said Shark bluntly, he stopped and looked at the ground, there was a lot of dry blood on the ground but he seen no bodies.

"Keep looking then" said Lightning, Shark started to pick up the pace, he jogged slowly down the street, his large heavy armour was loud and echoed off the buildings around him.

He jumped and flames spewed from his back and boots, he flew like rocket onto the side of a building, he then fired two grappling hooks from his gauntlets and swung around like spider man above the city streets.
He fired the thrusters again and landed on the room of a building, he took a few steps and looked around. He notice some smoke from a building in the distance and used his Heads up display system to determine how far away it was.

"200meters... Lightning can the thrusters keep me in the air long enough to reach that building?" asked Shark, there was a few seconds silence before a response.

"Negative, use your thrusters to slow yourself down from a jump and proceed by foot, I'll place a waypoint in your HUD" said Lightning, Shark nod his head and watched a little marker appeared in the distance, before he jumped off the building.

He fell rapidly towards the ground, at the last 30 meters, he fired the thrusters which slowed his fall enough, so he landed lightly on the ground. He stretched his limbs a little, before jogging down the street towards the smoking building in the distance, his head count down in meters how far away he was.

"Eta, 5 minutes" said Lightning, Shark doubled timed it to the entrance. But stopped when he arrived and held his gauntlet laser blasters at the ready for trouble, something looked off to him.

"This looks sketchy" said Lightning, Shark rolled is eyes.

"No shit, I'm going inside, firing up scanners" said Shark, he walked inside, his HUD scanning the room for any signs of movement.

The rooms were pitch black, so he activated his night vision to help him see better. The room looked as bright a day, except he was blinded every time he saw a light source.
He growled slightly as he walk around, annoyed with having to constantly toggle his night vision on and off.

"switch to your helmet torch, might help" offered Lightning, Shark grumbled and switched the light on, it illuminated an odd suit case on the floor with bio hazard labels on it.

"Bingo, Lightning get a scan in this" said Shark as he walked over to it and kneeled down to get a better look.

"Scannning.... Roger Bio weapon has been located" said Lightning, Shark picked up the suit case and looked around.

His movement sensor suddenly went off the charts, warning his of hundreds of contacts moving his way.
"Activate swarm armour" yelled Shark, the gatling guns on his back suddenly folded out, mounted on long robotic arms that aimed the weapons in the same direction as his arms pointed.

Shark spotted several mutated human creatures rushing through a doorway towards him, he aimed both gatling guns towards them and fired.
A full hail storm of low power laser beams tore them apart, burning several holes in their hideous form before they would die.

The room flashed with light as the laser flew in every direction, killing and crippling the zombie like creatures that rushed towards him.
Every exit rout was blocked by a wall of flesh, seeing this Lightning called out for Shark to blast a hole directly to his 4 o'clock position.
Shark aimed one of the gatling cannons in that direction, and fired a powerful bolt of raw energy, the bolt caused a small explosion that made an exit out into the street for him. 

Shark threw the suit case out the exit, and dived after it, he fired his thrusters to slow himself down and landed beside the suit case. The plastic cover had cracked and chipped from the impact, Shark noticed the loud cries and roars in the air, and knew he just stirred up a hornets nest. He looked back at his exit and saw more of the mutated zombie creatures tumbling through it after him.
A small chute on his back opened, and a small fusion missile flew up and exploded into the hole, Shark shielded his eyes from the flash, grabbed the case and began to run as fast as he could.

"Get me out of here Lightning" he growled into the radio, the gatling guns folded out again and fired a long burst at more of the zombie creatures, that spewed out of a building towards him.

"working on it" growled back Lightning, Shark fired both energy cannons at a building, causing a large explosion that accidently knocked out one of the main structural supports.

The massive sky scraper began to fall, Shark swore loudly and used his thrusters to move faster away from the falling building, as it hit. the ground shook from the impact, Shark tripped and tumbled head over heals across the ground.
A strong shock wave of dust swept down the street, sending Shark rolling further, Lightning's voice called out but Shark couldn't hear a word he said.

Shark roared and skidded to his feet, his thruster burned and he stopped dead in his tracks, he fired the grappling hooks at a building and used it to hold him steady against the shock wave of dust and air.
As the dust settled, the grappling hooks came back and Shark looked around for the suit case, he saw it lying several meters away, but between him and it was a mob of those zombie creatures.

"your outnumbered 100 to 1 man, run while you still can!" yelled Lightning over the radio, Shark smirked and the gatling guns began to spin.

"No, its an even fight now" he raised both gauntlet and charged towards the case, all his laser weapons were firing away, gunning down the zombies before they knew what hit them.

He skidded to a halt beside the case, the gatling guns still firing laser bolt after laser bolt. He hastily grabbed the case and began to run again, the gatling guns began to glow from the heat of firing so long, soon Shark had to stop firing and just run.
The lapse in the suppressing fire, gave the zombies a chance to regroup and pursue Shark down the street. 

"A chopper is on rout to pick you up, head to this way point" said Lightning, a dot appeared on top of a building, indicating where Shark needed to go.

Shark growled and fired one of his gauntlet laser blasters at a Zombie that tried to run in front of him, the Zombie staggered and Shark punched it across the head as he ran past.
The zombie fell over with a broken skull, the gatling guns had now cooled off, and Shark fired them behind himself. The laser bolts flew into a giant swarm of the zombie creatures that was flocking towards him in rage.

His attacks did nothing to slow down the horde perusing him, in annoyance. Shark resorted to his missiles for an advantage.

"Firing missiles" he said to himself, 16 micro fusion missiles flew from his back, and fell amongst the Zombies with bright flashes of light, zombies were incinerated upon contact with the light and powerful shock waves pushed Shark forwards.

Shark was less that 200 meters from the evac point, his gatling guns were glowing hot and he was getting tired from all the running.
The guns went silent and the zombies were still hot on his heals, Shark roared a little and put on a desperate burst of speed, the Zombies were almost stepping on his tail now. They were that close now.

Just when it looked like he wouldn't make it, the a helicopter flew over his head. A man using a Mk19 grenade launched fired upon the zombies, giving Shark a chance to reach the helicopter.

The dragon used his thrusters, to shoot him into the air and fired the grappling hook, the hook wrapped itself around the landing bar under the helicopter. The pilot saw what Shark did and gained height to avoid a building, and from the zombies getting to close to Sharks feet. 

"that was TOO close Shark!" yelled Lightning's voice, but it was drowned out by the noise of the helicopter blades.

Shark used the winch in his gauntlet to pull himself up to the bar, and climbed inside the safety of the helicopter.
He slumped into the seat and dropped the suit case onto the floor, he needed to rest. And find a way how to make his 37kg armour a bit lighter.

"Well done Shark".

"Ya ya, now let me sleep" Shark snapped before closing his eyes and having a long, well deserved nap.
